Colts DB Silva tears ACL, will miss season

08/16/2010 - Indianapolis, IN (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The Indianapolis Colts announced on Monday reserve defensive back Jamie Silva will miss the entire 2010 season after suffering a torn anterior cruciate ligament.

The injury happened during the Colts' 37-17 preseason loss against San Francisco on Sunday.

Silva, 25, joined the team as a free agent in 2008 and has played in 25 games over the last two seasons. He's most noted for his stellar special teams work as he finished with 15 tackles in 2009, which was second-highest on the unit. Silva had 12 special teams stops for Indy in 2008.

Among the candidates to take Johnson's spot in the rotation are left-hander Chris George and right-handers Yusmeiro Petit and Jose Garcia.

Right-hander Sergio Mitre, who missed most of last season with arm and shoulder problems, also is behind.

With Johnson's status doubtful, Gonzalez said right-hander Ricky Nolasco will stay in the rotation and no longer will be considered a candidate for closer.

Who is to say independently produced Little Miss Sunshine won't be this year's Crash.  Last year, Crash won for Best Motion Picture, shocking those who bet on gay cowboy flick, Brokeback Mountain, as the favorite to win.
