05/27/2010 - Bridgeview, IL (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - FC Dallas and the Chicago Fire battled to a 1-1 draw in Major League Soccer action at Toyota Park on Thursday night.
The draw was the sixth in 10 games to start the season for the Hoops (2-2-6), who close out their May schedule on a three-game winless run.
Chicago (2-3-4) also went winless in May, going 0-1-3.
FCD got on the board first on Thursday, with David Ferreira scoring his first goal of the season just six minutes into the fixture.
The Colombian ran onto a long ball played from the back. After defender Wilman Conde went down, Ferreira stormed into the Fire penalty area, cut past a defender with his right foot and fired a left-footed laser past goalkeeper Andrew Dykstra.
The Fire controlled play the majority of the first half, with a pair of horrendous Mike Banner misses being the team's best chances before Brian McBride scored the controversial equalizer.
The first of Banner's misses was on a free kick from inside 20 yards that he skied well over the goal. The second came minutes before the equalizer when Justin Mapp set him up with a square ball in the FCD area with a wide open net in front on him. Banner missed that chance high as well.
Mapp's next set-up went to a more proven goal scorer when he fired a cross into the area to McBride, who skied to head past goalkeeper Kevin Hartman for his fourth goal of the season. Replays showed he was well offside, however, but the goal counted as the linesman obviously missed it.
The Fire will aim to add to their win total with two games next week at home vs. Philadelphia and Colorado before the World Cup break, while Dallas has just one before the break, on June 5 vs. San Jose.

New York, NY – October 3, 2007 – The dress rehearsal is over! The NHL preseason has ended and now that fans have had a glimpse of what is to come it is time to hit the book! Stanley Cup odds are live at MySportsbook.com, the world’s largest online sportsbook and casino.
The Ottawa Senators and Detroit Red Wings remain on top of the odds charts after an impressive start in the preseason. Betting lines opened for both teams at 6-1 in June. Since then the Sens have fallen to 7-1 and the Red Wings are now caught in a pack including the defending champion Carolina Hurricanes, the San Jose Sharks and the Anaheim Ducks, all at 10-1.
MySportsbook.com has also posted props on each team’s point total for the regular season. The Senators lead the charge at 108.5 followed by the Ducks at 106.5. Detroit will attempt a repeat for the prize as the Red Wings are deadlocked with the Predators at 104.5 a piece. The temporary loss of highly touted rookie Evgeni Malkin puts a lot of pressure on the stick of assistant captain Sidney Crosby - his lowly Pittsburgh Penguins are listed at 71.5.
Even if bettors are not brave enough to put their money on the underdog, an early bet on the favorites at sportsbook.com tends to produce bigger payouts than a mid-season wager. Placing a $1,000 bet last summer on the Detroit Red Wings or Ottawa Senators would have paid out to $8,000 and $10,000 respectively, opposed to a $2,500 or $3,000 payout at the beginning of the playoffs.
