The 27-year-old United States international forward is desperate to impress at Goodison Park, with the World Cup finals a matter of months away.

He told the Daily Post: "I've done a lot of work in the last few weeks getting ready, so we will have a good week's training and we will see. I want to get in and start training.

"These guys are way ahead of me because we have been off for a month.

"Watching on Saturday you could tell it was a lot faster here, which I enjoy. I will have to get used to the style here but me and Tim Howard have had some discussions about it, and what to expect and I think I will be prepared.

"I like a fast-paced game, I like to take advantages and chances quickly and I think that will suit me well. I'm really pleased to be here.

"At the beginning of last year I went to Bayern Munich for a few months and that helped me a lot throughout the year and I think this will be the same.

"Going into a World Cup and playing in England will keep me sharp and keep me going."
