Report: Crew agree to contract with Schelotto

01/13/2010 - Columbus, OH (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - According to a report in the Columbus Dispatch, the Columbus Crew have agreed in principle to a new contract with former Major League Soccer MVP Guillermo Barros Schelotto.

It is reported that the deal is for 2010, with a team option for 2011.

"It's a good deal, a fair deal," Schelotto's American agent, Peter Smith, told the Dispatch. "It will be a good deal again if he comes back for another season."

The 36-year-old Schelotto has scored 24 goals and 33 assists since joining the Crew in 2007.

"Guillermo always wanted to come back. It would have been a shame if he didn't," Smith said.
