02/24/2010 - Kansas City, KS (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The Kansas City Wizards traded the rights to midfielder Luis Gil to Real Salt Lake in exchange for an international roster spot, a 2011 second-round draft pick, and 25 percent of any transfer fee, should a club outside of Major League Soccer purchase Gils rights in the future.
Gil had attracted interest from a number European clubs. He signed with MLS last month with the understanding that he would begin his pro career with Real Salt Lake or Seattle Sounders FC.
So after the Wizards won the 17-year-old's rights in a weighted lottery on Monday, the team struck a deal with RSL to fulfill the league's promise to the young player.
"Real Salt Lake provides a prime environment for the development of young players," RSL general manager Garth Lagerwey said. "The track record that Jason Kreis and our coaching staff have of nurturing talent is exemplary, and the dream of venturing onto the Rio Tinto Stadium turf will surely inspire Luis to work hard every day in training. We have a talented, veteran team and we have no expectation that any young player will easily crack our championship lineup, though our hope is that Luis is eventually able to earn minutes in the years ahead."
In 2009, Gil became the youngest player since 2003 to win U.S. Soccer's Young Male Athlete of the Year award. He played his youth soccer with Southern California club Pateadores before joining the U.S. U-17 Residency Program in Bradenton, Fla. for its Spring 2008 semester.

Kurt Warner to start, Matt Leinart to watch
Despite the debate that's swirling , Kurt Warner will remain the starting quarterback for the Arizona Cardinals, coach Dennis Green said today. The Arizona Cardinals are the +7 point underdog at online sportsbook MySportsbook.com for this Sunday's game.
Green's comment came in a statement released by the team following an ESPN report that Green decided that rookie Matt Leinart would replace Warner as starter for Sunday's game at Atlanta.
"Generally talking about the starting lineup is not something we do," Green told the AP. "However, given the speculation that was out there we want to make it clear. We're disappointed after last week, but we still expect to be a playoff football team and we fully expect Kurt Warner to be the quarterback that leads us. That has not changed."
