Holden suffers broken leg in Holland tilt

03/04/2010 - Bolton, England (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Former Houston Dynamo midfielder Stuart Holden, who is now playing for the Bolton Wanderers of the English Premier League, will miss about 6 weeks after suffering a fracture in his leg during the United States' friendly against Holland in Amsterdam on Wednesday.

"It's disappointing for Stuart because he has come into the team and done ever so well," Wanderers Manager Owen Coyle said. "He's a very good player, an international player, and he has shown a real hunger and desire to do well for our football club."

Holden, who should return from the injury before the end of the EPL season, meaning he could still make the U.S. World Cup team, picked up the injury after a hard tackle by Nigel DeJong.

Coyle stated that Holden is still in the team's plans after the injury.

"In both games against Tottenham Hotspur and Wolves everybody saw the quality that he has so it is a blow, but the most important thing is that he returns bigger and better," he said.
