Galaxy aim to end TFC's unbeaten home streak

06/25/2010 - Toronto, ON (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The Los Angeles Galaxy travel to take on Toronto FC at BMO Field on Saturday as Major League Soccer ends its two-week FIFA World Cup break this weekend.

The Galaxy (10-1-2) have a comfortable lead atop the Western Conference standings, but are coming off their first loss of the season on June 9 at defending MLS Cup champions Real Salt Lake, 1-0.

Javier Morales scored that game's only goal off a fluky bounce, which angered some of the Galaxy players.

"I couldn't believe it," L.A. defender Todd Dunivant told mlssoccer.com. "Morales was 10 yards behind our back line. It's really no different than if they were to take a shot and it deflects off one of our guys and goes to Morales who is standing 10 yards behind our back line. It's still offside. The linesman saw it and makes a judgment that it went off one of our guys, and that's why it was not offside. After the game he admitted that he was wrong. What else can you say? He missed a call."

Despite having to cope with a loss during the two-week break, Dunivant said it won't effect the team.

"We've had an unbelievable season," he said. "It carried over from a great season last year so we're going to keep going. We're not going to let something like this let us down. We're still a difficult team to beat, and we proved that again, and it took a fluke play like that, and an admittedly missed call by the referee, to have us lose a game."

Toronto (5-4-1) will be putting its unbeaten home record on the line vs. the Galaxy, who have proven they are powerful even without U.S. national team players Landon Donovan and Edson Buddle.

TFC's 4-0-1 home record suffered its first blemish right before the break, with a scoreless draw vs. the Kansas City Wizards on June 5. The Canadian club is hoping it can find a way to get the full points even without the services of defender Emmanuel Gomez who is out with an injury. Also, forwards Chad Barrett and O'Brian White, and midfielders Julian de Guzman and Joseph Nane are questionable with injuries.

The Galaxy will be without forward Mike Magee while midfielder Dema Kovalenko is questionable, both with injuries.

March Madness odds and printable March Madness brackets

With the field of 64/65 set, MySportsbook.com has the Florida Gators as the 4-1 favorite to successfully defend their National Championship.  Men’s Division-1 College Basketball has not seen a team repeat as National Champions since Duke won back to back championships in ’91 & ‘92.  After losing three out of four late in the season, the Gators are full of momentum as they won their last four games by an average of 18 points.  Not surprisingly, right behind the Gators are the other three top seeds: Kansas 5-1, UNC 6-1, and Ohio State 7-1.  Many consider Kansas to be the hottest team in the country, having won 11 straight. With Kansas, it is hard to ignore all of the early exits from the “dance” in recent years.  With an impressive ACC Tournament, UNC ensured themselves the other top seed.  UNC has about as much talent as any other team in the tournament but with a team that’s best players are primarily freshman and sophomores, could youth be a concern.  Behind freshman sensation, Greg Oden, OSU will look to do what their football team failed to do just a few months earlier.  OSU seems to have peeked at the right time, as they currently have a 17 game winning streak.  Since the tournament field was expanded in 1985, there has never been an instance where all four #1 seeds advanced to the Final Four.  It is obvious that each of the top seeds have the talent to make it through to Atlanta.  But as everyone knows, when makes the NCAA Tournament so special are all of the spoilers and “Cinderella” stories that knock off the favorites on a daily basis.
